Penne Alla Vodka

**Ingredients:
**1 lb penne pasta
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Directions:
1. Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes, until soft and translucent.
3. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.
4. Add the crushed tomatoes and stir to combine. Let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
5. Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
6. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese.
7. Serve with fresh basil or parsley on top, and additional Parmesan cheese if desired.
